What I've learned in Issues and Trends of Education Technology:
In summer 2017 I took the issues and trends of education technology class. I have learned so many things about connecting with other teachers, and classrooms from around the world. The book that we used was The Global Educator by Julie Lindsay. The book was the true form and definition of collaboration. It included pieces from many different educators, students, and administrators on collaboration, team work, and global collaboration. Lindsay gives us a view into what it looks like to be a global educator. A global educator is one who reaches out to connect with other teachers around the globe for a common purpose or question. In ED 408 we had to create our own global plan. I chose to collaborate with another classmate to construct our global plan
My Global Plan: Classrooms Around the World
The goal of our global plan was to allow students from different countries to communicate and collaborate on how their schools differ.
ED 408 Case Studies
Another big portion of ED 408 was reading about global educators and completing a case study summary. These summaries helped me to understand different aspects of being a global educator. The two case studies I will include are both educators who are looking to blaze a new trail for education. These teachers are great examples of who I aspire to be as a global educator!
Case Study 1: Janice Mak
Case Study 2: Judy O'Connell
These two documents were case studies that I completed in ED 408. The two case studies have showed me that an important part of being an educator is to plan, and be flexible. Things will not always go as planned but we need to go with the flow. This class has taught me that preparation is key. It has also taught me steps to connect globally with other teachers and students. The book has provided resources in how to connect and topics to begin with. The book shows us that there is a lot of planning that goes into the global project as well. The book gives us directions on how to best complete a global project, connect with other teachers, organizing projects, and so many resources to begin implementing our own global projects!
